A useful thought rarely arrives while you are already organizing your notes. Summon Mote with ⌘. above the app you are using and write it down. The panel stays available while you read, code, or browse; you can keep a passing thought as a scratch note until it is worth saving to your vault.

Mote can search your Obsidian vault and open your daily note. That makes it useful for returning to an existing idea as well as capturing a new one. Your vault remains a folder of markdown files; Mote reads and writes directly to that folder.

Use ⌘⇧E to promote a scratch note to a vault file. This connects quick capture to the place where you keep longer-lived notes, without treating every temporary thought as something you need to file immediately.
